Ash Wednesday and Lent for 2021

#LiveLent: God's story, Our story

Lent this year begins on 17th February with Ash Wednesday.  So, what is happening with Ash Wednesday and Lent this year?

Good question, and here is the answer about how it all fits together.  This year we are going to follow the Church of England’s lent theme:

#LiveLent: God's Story, Our Story

It is based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book for 2021, Living His Story by Hannah Steele.  Both the book and the accompanying daily reflections encourage all Christians to think about their calling, how to share their faith and reflect on the difference Christ makes in our lives.  If you would like a copy of the book, then please take a look at the resources below, to see how you can order one.

Alongside the book there is a further book of daily reflections to cover each day until Easter.  These reflections can also be ordered separately, and as before we shall be purchasing a batch that can be collected from the Church Office.  Again, please see below.

We witness to God’s story and the impact this has made to our story so that others might also find their story taking on new meaning in the light of God’s love. While the current restrictions on daily life necessitated by the pandemic present significant challenges, the suffering and isolation many continue to face make the need for us to share God’s love with our communities greater than ever. Rather than just being a Lenten discipline, this year’s #LiveLent is a joyful invitation to make witness a normal part of the Christian life, the natural overflow of a life lived in devotion to Christ.

How can I get involved?

Join up for our Evening Online Lent Course Gathering each Tuesday.  This will be around an hour via Zoom, reflecting upon what we are reading, praying and finding in our hearts.  Please book your place here

You can order a copy of the Lent book (£7.99 plus postage), Living His Story, here:

Also you can collect a copy of the ‘God’s Story Our Story’ our story daily reflections booklet.  Please contact the office.  For those isolating at home, it will be possible to deliver it to you.  There is no cost, but a suggested donation of £2 could be gifted.
