Faith
The Centre of Our Faith is Jesus Christ
To be a Christian is to follow Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and to try to live after his teachings and example. This brings peace, hope and love together, the most precious things of life.
What does it mean to have faith?
Faith is certainly not the absence of doubt, alongside a perfectly lived life! Christians have their doubts and difficulties just as much as anyone else. What perhaps describes faith best is when people begin to realise that their lives do not simply begin and end solely with themselves, and that there is more to their lives than just what they see in front of them.
Many people find that the models of life which are presented to them by society do not satisfy the ways they would like to live, or being up their families. Millions of people seek seek a life accompanied by God, who invites their prayers, gives feelings of hope in difficult times, and blessings in the good times.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Who was Jesus Christ?
Jesus spoke into the society of his day, over 2,000 years ago. Yet it was was much more than the manner of his life that people still follow today. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who lived as we do and died as we shall too. During his earthly life he radically reshaped what it means to be a fully human, as God always intended we should be. Jesus demonstrated justice, truth and peace in all he did, with a compassion and commitment that would ultimately lead to his arrest and cruxifiction. At Easter time we remember that God raised Christ from the tomb, to confirm to us that faithful Christian lives have hope beyond anything that the world can offer.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
“This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who seek the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.” (John 6:40)
How does Jesus say we should live?
The Bible is quite clear about how Christians should live their lives, and what that means in our relationships. Here are some good examples from the New Testament.

Can I find out more?
If you are thinking about your own faith, even if you think you have none, then why not try to find out more?
We would always encourage you to get in touch with Chris or Justin our priests, who would be delighted to have a chat with you. It's also a great idea to come along on a Sunday, and to make some time for God.
