Mothering Sunday 2025

Mothering Sunday (800 x 330 px

For 2025, Mothering Sunday will be on Sunday 30th March. There will be a morning service at 10:00am at St Bartholomew's Church.

The Mothering Sunday service this year brings a particularly special flourish because this will be the first time that our Parish Junior Choir will be out to sing.

The service will be a family friendly occasion, with flowers as gifts for mothers.  Just turn up, with or without a mother or grandmother, it does not matter!

What is Mothering Sunday?

Mothering Sunday, a day rich in tradition and meaning, is a celebration honouring mothers and mother figures. It has its origins in the Christian practice of visiting one's "mother church" - the church where one was baptized - on the fourth Sunday of Lent. This pilgrimage, known as "going a-mothering," often brought together families and communities.

Here in Haslemere Parish we place much work into our families ministry, through baptism and in St Bartholomew's school.  Our mothering instinct is strong in the church, drawing together and helping us to grow well.
