Passover Meal

Gathering with Jesus at the Last Supper

Passover (800 x 330 px)

In our Passover Meal we go back to the time of Moses, as he prepared to lead the people of God out of captivity in Egypt into the promised land of Israel.  This was such an important event in the history of the Jewish nation and in the history of God’s dealings with mankind, that it was commanded to be kept every year as a reminder of the salvation that only God can bring.  When Jesus sat down with his disciple for the Last Supper, this is what they celebrated.

We too celebrate it as Jesus did, with all the elements of the meal as he would have shared it with his disciples.  In this way we come close to Christ in his last acts of love, before giving his life for us.

So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, ‘Go and prepare the Passover meal for us that we may eat it.’ (Luke 22:8)
