Christmas 2024 (800 x 200 px)

Advent and Christmas Services for 2024

‘The angel said to Mary, ‘Do not be afraid, for you have found favour with God.  And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.  He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High.’  (Luke 1:30-32)

Christmas in Haslemere Parish is a most wonderful occasion, to which so many come across the season.  Our celebration is of Christ the Lord, who comes as God amongst us with God's love.

Please do have a look down at the layout of services across the Advent and Christmas seasons, and dins yourself most welcome to come to St Bartholomew's and St Christopher's.

The Sundays of Advent and Christmas

Our Sunday pattern of morning services will continue throughout Advent, with both 8am and 10am services on 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd December.   The exception is 29th  December, which will have only a 10am service that day.  All live-streaming will be be normal too.

Please refer to the Sunday Service Times Page for more details.

Children and Families

There will be a special Sunday Morning Families session on 1st December at the 10:00am service, to mark the beginning of Advent.  This is one of our special 'Take Over' services, where the youth groups run the service.  As usual on the first Sunday of each month, during the main service the children will go out to make special Advent craft activities.

Christingle and Nativity

Christingle 2024 (800 x 200 px

On Christmas Eve please join us in Church for one of our extremely popular Christingle Services. There are two service at St Bartholomew's, which are the same, at 3:00pm and 4:30pm.

You can pick up a christingle at the services on Christmas Eve, as you arrive.

Christmas Carol Services

For Sunday 1st December the traditional choral service of Darkness to Light will be once again run in St Bartholomew’s from 6:00pm.  This is a lovely choral atmospheric Advent service of the ‘O Antiphons’, sometimes known as the ‘Great Os of Advent’.  The antiphons are of ancient monastic origins, which recite the names and attributes of Christ.

The big annual Parish Carol Services will be in Sunday 15th December at 4:00pm in St Christopher's and 6:00pm in St Bartholomew's.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

The Candlelit Midnight Mass will be as normal for 11:30pm in St Bartholomew's.

Finally, by the time we get to Christmas Day we shall gather at 9:30am at St Bartholomew’s and 11:00am at St Christopher’s for our very popular all-age services.
